Responsible Parenthood and Family Planning

The RP/FP program component deals with issues related to sexual reproductive health, including fertility and family planning concerns. It primarily aims to help couples to realize their desired timing, spacing, and number of children in accordance with their socio-economic, emotional, and psychological capacity.
 
General Objective
 
The RP, RH and FP program component of the PPMP aims to help couples, parents and individuals achieve their desired timing, spacing and number of children through responsible parenting; and to contribute in improving their MNCHN status.
 
Specific Objectives
 
  1. Ensure the availability of accessible, affordable, acceptable and convenient comprehensive and factual information on a full range of responsible parenthood and reproductive health care services, including family planning, to all users in all health services of LGUs, GOs, NGOs and private or business institutions.
  2. Prevent unwanted pregnancies and reduce the incidence of high-risk pregnancies, morbidity and mortality.
  3. Strengthen and upgrade the capacities of RP, RH and FP service providers, counsellors, health volunteers and workers, population officers, and other stakeholder in ensuring quality information on RP, RH, FP especially in the community level.
  4. Increase the demand or improve health-seeking behaviour among women , individuals, and couples for RP,RH, FP services including maternal health services.
  5. Promote responsible parenthood, including family planning, as normative behavior among would-be couples and parents.
  6. Increase men's participation and sharing responsibility in the actual practice of family planning, responsible parenthood, and other reproductive health concerns.
  7. Promote adequate development of responsible sexuality, permitting relations of equity and mutual respect between the genders.
  8. Ensure that women and men have access to the information, education and services needed to achieve good sexual health, and that the exercise their reproductive rights and responsibilities.
  9. Improve the policy and program environment for RP, RH and FP at the national and local levels.
  10. Create a conducive and effective environment for public-private partnership in improving availability of the access to responsible parenthood, family planning and reproductive health information and services.
  11. Generate and ensure more resources for RP, RH, FP programs and interventions at all levels.
  12. Improve the knowledge base and database, including monitoring and evaluation mechanisms on RP, RH and FP and other related concerns for programming and policy development.
